History

St. Joseph County was established in late 1829 with a population of 1000 people. Since then St. Joseph County has grown into a place where more than 60,000 people call home. St. Joseph County is found in the southwest region of the state and borders Cass, Calhoun, Kalamazoo, and Branch. It's also neighbors with Lagrange and Elkhart County, Indiana. Centreville is the County’s Seat. You can find the County Courthouse and the Sheriff’s Office in Centreville.
